Rihanna Searches For Love In 'Where Have You Been' Video

Singer goes tribal and gets her dance on in trippy new Talk That Talk video.

Rihanna's wondering "Where Have You Been" in the just-released music video for the Talk That Talk single. Her search takes her to mucky rivers, flower-drenched hillsides, desert-scapes and smoke-filled dance parties, overflowing with dancers popping and locking in tribal couture alongside the sexy pop vixen.

The video, which she dropped on her Facebook page, opens with Rihanna emerging from a river, scantily clad and as lonely-looking as hinted at in the track's lyrics. "Where have you been all my life?" she sings while performing more intense choreography than fans of the singer might be used to. She shimmies and shakes in an exotic desert-like setting, wondering where her one true love might be hiding.

The video serves as a kind of photo shoot for a tribal-print-themed spread in a fashion magazine, with Ri donning funky looks that feature lots of animal prints, chunky jewelry and headdresses. It's sexy and full of longing, much like the song itself, and even includes the singer appearing topless in certain shots. And if a topless Rihanna can't find love, what hope is there for the rest of humanity?

As the Calvin Harris-produced track grinds on in all its EDM glory, Rihanna continues her trek throughout the world, looking for that special guy, who seems to slip through her fingers at every turn. Rihanna looks fiercely into the camera, shimmying to the song's bumping beat, with her siren call being blasted into the wilds of the world.

The video turns psychedelic as it nears its end and a kaleidoscope effect is filtered over the clip, with glitter-sprinkled Rihanna making one final plea. Several dance breaks, wardrobe changes and hairstyles later, Rihanna looks as if she still might have to live her life all by her lonesome. At the video's end, she goes back underwater, with just her dancers to keep her company.

Don't forget to watch Rihanna on MTV tonight at 7:56 p.m. ET to watch the premiere of an exclusive "Battleship" clip, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A with the film's stars on MTV.com, hosted by MTV News' Josh Horowitz. Fans can get in on the action by submitting video or text questions via MTV.com or via Twitter using @MTVNews, hashtag #MTVFirst or #AskBattleship.

Iron Man Recast? Robert Downey, Jr 'Would Really Hate' That

The actor tells MTV News he expects to play the superhero 'for a long while.'

With the Avengers finally assembling next week, Marvel Studios and the stars behind the heroes have already begun to look ahead to the next films set in the comic-book universe. At the closing night celebration of the Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday night (April 28), Robert Downey, Jr. spoke with MTV News about the future of his character, Iron Man, and addressed recent talk about other actors playing the role in the future.

At CinemaCon last week, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige mentioned to Badass Digest that when it came time for Downey to leave the role of Tony Stark behind, a new actor could pick up right where he left off, like in the James Bond films.

But Downey told MTV News on the red carpet that he wasn't so thrilled about the idea of someone else playing Tony Stark. "I would really hate for someone else to think they could step into my shoes," he said. An infamous jokester, he couldn't help but ask, "I wonder who's playing Tony Stark next. Is it you? Is that what you're here to tell me?"

But Downey can't be Iron Man forever, and while the 42-year-old actor couldn't say for sure how many movies he has left in him, he made clear he'll be interested as long as they remain good films.

"I know things are looking like that they could go on for a long while," Downey said. "As usual in my book, it's all about quality control and delivering a product that you can have this kind of reaction to. If they keep doing that, maybe I'll keep showing up."

In Downey's immediate Marvel future, there's next year's "Iron Man 3." The past few weeks have seen actors like Sir Ben Kingsley, Guy Pearce and Jessica Chastain potentially joining the cast, and Downey said that he could not wait to work with "any or all of them."

"It's funny. Sometimes you have to call for a good old-fashioned British invasion," Downey said. "'Iron Man 3' is really shaping up to be something special. We start in a couple weeks. I'm sure I'll be leaking secrets to you as we move ahead."

What secrets, you ask? Well, it was recently announced that "Iron Man 3" would be co-produced in China. As for whether any filming would take place in the East, Downey was less forthcoming. "I'd like to tell you all my secrets," he said," but I forget them."

Check out everything we've got on "The Avengers."

MetroPCS announces Q1 2012 results: total revenues up, new subscriber growth shrinks

Regional network MetroPCS has announced total revenues of approximately $1.3 billion for Q1 2012, up from $1.2 billion in the last quarter and up seven percent from the same period in 2011. Users on contract now total 9.5 million, with 16 percent of them making the move across to a smartphone. Net income has, however, dropped 63 percent since Q1 2011, with cost per user up 16 percent compared the same period last year. MetroPCS puts down to "retention expense" and the roll-out of its 4G network. The fifth biggest US carrier added over 131,000 new subscribers, but growth continues to slide -- it's down from 190,000 in Q4 2012. On the positive side, users are creeping onto the carrier's 4G network, with 580,000 LTE subscribers nowmaking up six percent of its total subscription base -- regardless of those creeping costs for unlimited data.

U.S. House Passes Controversial CISPA Cybersecurity Bill 248 To 168

The United States House of Representatives ? House.govThis afternoon, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the controversial Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) by a vote of 248 to168. Unlike SOPA, which focused on copyright violations, CISPA wants to give Internet companies and the U.S. government the tools to protect and defend themselves against cyber attacks by sharing information with each other. Critics, however, argued that this information sharing would be happening with very little oversight and would put Americans privacy rights at risk.

Tech Investors Dive Into Adrian Grenier?s New Beer Startup, Churchkey

Adrian-Grenier-flat-top-beer (2)Old movie buffs (and older readers) may remember a time when beer was sold in steel cans that were opened with a "church key." Entourage star Adrian Grenier is tapping into that nostalgia, we hear, with a new beer startup he's cofounding, Churchkey Can Co. The cans are the old-timey variety that you probably haven?t seen since the 60s. They?re made of fully-recyclable steel, and require a churchkey opener to get into. You puncture one corner of the top, then make a deeper puncture on the other side to drink out of. Ever noticed a triangle-shaped piece of metal on the other end of some bottle openers? It?s for these types of cans.

A Blogadore ? Advertising trickles in for online streaming of cricket

Online video streaming spiked in the country in March last year, thanks to the cricket World Cup that India went on to win.

While there were just 3.4 million video streams on sports websites in January last year , the number jumped to more than 37 million two months later, according to comScore Inc., which tracks the digital media.

Google Inc., which streams Indian Premier League (IPL) matches live on YouTube, saw viewership jump from 55 million in 2010 to 70 million last year, with 70% of it from India. The latest season of IPL began on Wednesday, with the Mumbai Indians beating the Chennai Super Kings.

These numbers point to more sports?especially widely followed cricket?being consumed on the Internet and mobile phones, even as television continues to get the lion?s share of the viewership and, therefore, advertising.

While the trend can?t be denied, has it become big enough to dictate the way sports is monetized in the country? Some recent bets may indicate that companies are definitely leaning that way.

On Tuesday, Star India Pvt. Ltd won the broadcasting, Internet and mobile rights for six years for all international cricket played in the country. For this privilege, it will pay the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) `3,851 crore.

But some industry experts are questioning whether it will be able to leverage the Internet and the mobile phone to such an extent, especially when the popularity of the game has dulled following a surfeit of cricket and India?s recent poor performance.

Nimbus Communications? broadcast deal was cancelled by BCCI after it defaulted on payments after a bid that was lower than Star?s commitment, although that deal didn?t include Internet and mobile rights.

Nikhil Rungta, country head, marketing, Google India, said the company grappled with similar questions about whether people would watch cricket on the Internet at all.

?But the reaction on the first day of the tournament itself dispelled all of those fears,? Rungta said. With a clear uptrend in popularity, marketers will put their money where the eyeballs are. ?People who opt to watch cricket online are deeply engaged with the game, they are clicking at features and applications while they watch, so the engagement levels are very high,? he said. ?When combined with traditional media, the benefits are multiplied.?

People are mostly consuming cricket online at offices and single-TV homes, according to experts. Moreover, apps being rolled out allow users to click on what they want?highlights, specific overs or their favourite players? match performance. This, in turn, is enabling marketers to position their products in innovative ways?through in-screen advertising or outside it.

Broadcasters can no longer afford to ignore Internet and mobile rights while bidding, said Sanjay Kailash, executive vice-president, ESPN Software India Pvt. Ltd, which manages and distributes the ESPN Star Sports bouquet in India.

?In a few years? time, the Internet and mobile may start paying off in a big way, and then if you have given off the rights to somebody else, you will be left holding the lemon,? he said. ?Companies are not taking that risk anymore.? Even though digital is not even 10% of the overall advertising industry in the country, client spend is slowly increasing online, he said. ?But it?s a trickle, not an avalanche yet.?

One of the key hurdles in the way of live streaming of cricket is poor Internet speeds in the country. Third-generation networks haven?t led to an expected surge in high-speed mobile connectivity, said Anirban Das Blah, chief executive and managing director of marketing solutions firm KWAN Entertainment and Marketing Solutions. There needs to be more clarity on the telecom policy and network roll-outs in the country, he said.

?Though advertisers are putting a bit of a hopeful punt on Internet and mobile, there has to be a clear business model for content to be subscription based,? he said.

A big broadcaster like Star knows how to monetize content and will be something of a role model, said an executive at a company closely associated with cricket in the country.

?The entire industry wants Star to make money on this deal and show the way,? this person said.

?I found that this field was made for me because I was hoping in international business there would be a lot of travel, getting to be immersed into other cultures and seeing how other companies work around the world,? says Mindy Mah, an exchange student in Centennial College?s International Business Management program. ?Student exchange enriched my International Business program experience because I actually got to see beyond the textbook knowledge. I got to go to auto plants and see, for instance, Just In Time Inventory in action.?

Mindy?s testimonial offers an insight into the types of learners who may benefit from attending this one-year program, which results in an Ontario College Graduate Certificate. Additionally, those who want to work as Foreign Investment and Risk Analysts, Foreign Trade Consultants, Commercial Bank Officers, International Marketing Representatives, International Development Assistants may want to consider taking the International Business Management undertaking offered at Centennial.

Once students are accepted, they will take all Business Management Courses and international business courses at Progress Campus. The largest of all four Centennial College campuses, it also houses many other business programs. This makes it convenient for students to interact and network with peers enrolled in programs that are similar to theirs. The first semester of this International business Management program includes foundational courses, while the second semester provides specialized, industry-valued courses. Among the business management courses and international business courses are: Business Presentations, Comparative Geopolitical Systems, Global Business Strategy, Fundamentals of Project Management, Global Business Reasearch and Analysis, International Finance and Banking, International Marketing and Trade, and many more.

An extensive use of case studies, simulations and project-based learning, with focus on developing project management, teamwork, report writing and communication and presentation skills round out teaching methods.

Upon completion of the program, students have an opportunity to further develop their skills by registering for an experiential learning opportunity (field placement) in a real-world setting. In addition, graduates of International business Management may continue their studies and apply their Centennial credits towards a master?s degree with the program?s university partners: University of Western Sydney, Griffith University and Centenary College.

To apply for the International Business Management program, students must have completed a college diploma or university degree in any discipline. As such, the International Business Management program allows individuals from a variety of academic backgrounds to gain the global business knowledge necessary in leveraging their career prospects. NEW YORK (AP) ? Very quietly, almost stealthily, a new king has been inaugurated on Broadway.

Box office figures to be released later Monday show that "The Lion King" last week swiped the title of Broadway's all-time highest grossing show from "The Phantom of the Opera," The Associated Press has learned.

The cumulative gross for "The Lion King" is $853,846,062, according to the show's numbers. Its chandelier-swinging rival's cumulative total is $853,122,847, according to musical's publicist. The "Lion King" surged past "Phantom" after netting over $2 million at the box office for the week ending Sunday, while "Phantom" pulled in about $1.2 million.

What makes the achievement all the more remarkable is that "The Lion King" chased down and grabbed the title despite "Phantom" having almost a full 10 years' head start. The Disney show opened in November 1997, while "Phantom" debuted in January 1988.

The upstart's victory is due in large part to its higher average ticket prices and a slightly larger theater. Monday's data shows "Phantom" had an average paid admission of $98.97, while "The Lion King" fetched $155.09.

"It doesn't surprise me," said Cary Ginell, a music historian and biographer who edited the seventh edition of "Broadway Musicals: Show By Show." He compares "The Lion King" to a Disneyland ride.

"It's a spectacle that satisfies on many different sensory elements ? audio, visually, emotionally. It's also good for all ages ? just like Disneyland is. For the kids, it's the visual elements ? the colors, the costumes and the puppetry. For the adults, it's 'Hamlet,' basically. And the music is not geared to one age or gender or race. It's as universal a show can get."

Disney Theatrical Productions was gracious when contacted about reaching the milestone, saluting "Phantom" song writer Andrew Lloyd Webber and "Phantom" producer Cameron Mackintosh, who also co-produced Disney's hit "Mary Poppins," and calling their show "a global phenomenon of historic proportions."

Thomas Schumacher, producer and president of Disney Theatrical Productions, also gave credit to Julie Taymor, the director, costume and mask maker of "The Lion King." ''Her vision, continued commitment to the show and uncommon artistry account for this extraordinary success," he said in a statement.

"This accomplishment belongs to our audiences, millions of whom are experiencing their first Broadway show at 'The Lion King,'" Schumacher added. "Surely, introducing so many to the splendor of live theater is our show's greatest legacy."

The Broadway League, a trade group that collects revenue from theater owners, has slightly different numbers, putting the cumulative grosses of "The Lion King" at $854,038,152 and "Phantom" at $853,122,847 as of Monday. The League in 2009 changed the way it calculates grosses, which may explain the discrepancy. None of the figures are adjusted for inflation.

To be sure, "Phantom," now in its 24th year, is still the longest-running show in Broadway history, with more than 10,000 performances and it has sold many more tickets than its Disney rival on the Great White Way, a staggering 14.8 million so far.

In comparison, "The Lion King" looks like a pup: It is the sixth longest-running show on Broadway with over 5,900 performances over 14 years and has sold just over 10 million tickets.

"The Lion King" may now have won on Broadway, but "Phantom" is still a juggernaut elsewhere. Its producers have even declared it the most successful entertainment venture of all time, with revenues higher than any film, including "Titanic," ''Star Wars" and "Avatar."

The total worldwide grosses for "Phantom" are estimated at over $5.6 billion, while the worldwide haul for "Lion" is $4.8 billion. "Phantom" has also been seen by 130 million people worldwide, while "Lion" puts its number at 64 million. Those gaps may also close: "The Lion King" has seven ? soon eight ? productions worldwide, while "Phantom" has seven productions around the world: London, New York, Hungary, Japan, South Africa, Las Vegas and a UK tour.

Ginell points out that about 40 percent of "Phantom" tickets are sold to repeat customers, an extremely high number. Plus, 68 percent are women. "'Phantom is kind of a live-action romance novel," he said. "I think that's what's attracting a huge percentage of women to the show."

H. Todd Freeman, vice president of operations at ticket broker Applause Theatre & Entertainment Service, Inc., said the success of "The Lion King" is due to its family draw, big visuals and ticket prices that were double those for "Phantom" when it started.

Both shows now use premium pricing ? offering deep-pocketed theatergoers the best seats for a hefty mark up. Even so, "The Lion King" still commands a higher average ticket price and shows no signs of softening.

"Will it make 25? I don't know," said Freeman, who admits he never thought rival "Phantom" would last this long. "It holds up pretty well all year long but the times when it is the strongest is the Christmas breaks, the Easter breaks, the Spring breaks and the summertime."

The two share some attributes: Both have musical giants behind them: "Phantom" has songs by Lloyd Webber and is directed by Harold Prince, while "The Lion King" features music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice and the vision of Taymor.

Both have multiple Tony Awards, movie tie-ins, simple-to-understand stories and are spectacles ? important for attracting tourists whose command of English might be weak. Both are not dependent on having stars on stage. And both call home in similar-sized theaters, "Phantom" at the 1,605-seat Majestic and "Lion" at the 1,677-seat Minskoff.

The staying power of each is remarkable. Over their first 750 playing weeks ? which "The Lion King" has recently reached ? they've played to roughly the same number of people: "The Lion King" at 10,092,235 and "Phantom" at 9,241,333.

Most shows that have achieved a ripe old age never appear in the top 10 by this point in their ages, but both "Lion" and "Phantom" are still routinely among the top earners, week in and week out. On the other side of the ledger, over 500 shows have opened and closed on Broadway during lifetime of "The Lion King."

Ginell tips his cap to the new box office king and doesn't see a time soon when it abandons its kingdom. "'Lion King' is the perfect family musical and I think it always will be as long as expenses don't go so far up that they won't be able to afford to put it on anymore."

Large Hadron Collider atom smasher collides particles at record energies

Protons zoom around the 17-mile underground loop of the Large Hadron Collider below Switzerland and France, and then crash into each other, dissolving into new and sometimes exotic particles.

Physicists have started running the world's largest particle accelerator at a new record energy and taking the first data from these ultra-powerful collisions.

Protons zoom around the 17 mile (27 kilometer) underground loop of the?Large Hadron Collider?below Switzerland and France, and then crash into each other, dissolving into new and sometimes exotic particles. Scientists have now sped up those protons a bit more, sending them speeding toward each other at energies of 4 teraelectron volts (TeV), creating a?collision energy of 8 TeV?? a new world record.

"The increase in energy is all about maximizing the discovery potential of the LHC," Sergio Bertolucci, director of research at the LHC's home lab CERN, said in a statement. "And in that respect, 2012 looks set to be a vintage year for particle physics."

Ramping up to higher energies means the LHC has a better chance of creating the rare and highlysought particles it was designed to search for. These include the long-theorized, but not-yet-detected Higgs boson particle, as well as the particles predicted by a physics theory called supersymmetry. If supersymmetric particles are discovered, they may offer an explanation for the mystery of dark matter, the invisible stuff thought to make up most of the matter in the universe. [Wacky Physics: The Coolest Little Particles in Nature]

LHC was opened in September 2008, but shut off nine days later after an accident damaged a number of its superconducting magnets. The accelerator was fixed and got back up and running a little over a year later, and has been operating steadily since. Starting in March 2010, the proton beams have been colliding at energies of 3.5 TeV, creating a smash of 7 TeV.

"The experience of two good years of running at 3.5 TeV per beam gave us the confidence to increase the energy for this year without any significant risk to the machine," said Steve Myers, CERN's director for accelerators and technology. "Now it's over to the experiments to make the best of the increased discovery potential we're delivering them!"

The increased energy should mean more Higgs boson particles are produced, if they exist. Already, scientists at two of the LHC's experiments, Atlas and CMS, have seen promising indications of an excess of particles weighing around 125 GeV (gigaelectron volts) ? potentially?a sign of the Higgs. Yet physicists say they don't have enough data to confirm a discovery with certainty.

The increased energy should up the chances of creating Higgs particles inside the machine, though it will also create more of the "background" particles that produce similar signatures, and must be weeded out from the data.

Ultimately, scientists plan to run particle beams through the LHC at an astounding 7TeVeach, producing collisions of a whopping 14TeV. To do that, they'll need to refurbish the accelerator during a planned shutdown at the end of this year.
